Pregnancy Health
Prenatal visits are encouraged during the developmental stages of your baby. We take the time to address your physical and emotional needs to ensure that your prenatal experience is one that you'll enjoy. Heavy on education and passion for birth equality, We use our extensive background in research and education to prepare her clients for what’s ahead in their pregnancy journey. We also implement Kourtney’s self-published book for some clients and have seen great success with following her proven technique!
Postpartum and Newborn Care
To ensure that you receive the best possible care for you and your newborn baby, we all stay in close contact with you after your birth to provide support, assist with breastfeeding, and answer any questions you may have. All of these services can be provided to you in the comfort of your home. Our goal is to stay connected with you for a healthy development. If Kourtney is not available, Eva; our licensed registered nurse or Tia, our other doula is available to start that relationship with you or continue the relationship that has already been established in during your consultation! Both Tia and Kourtney have over 20 years of experience caring for newborns and are moms themselves. They are also certified to care for your newborn and keep up with CPR and first aid requirements.
Child birth Education
Kourtney has created a hands-on curriculum that has been proven to put first-time and parents of multiple children at ease prior to the arrival of a new baby. She gives details on all aspects of labor, post partum, breastfeeding and CPR basics in ONE class! Take advantage of this bundle that is not normally offered all at one time!
Sleep conditioning infants
It is possible to get more sleep in the early months of motherhood! Both Kourtney and Tia can assist in sleep conditioning (at night) as well as developing an age-appropriate routine for your baby to know the ques of what is next in their day and night routine. Babies are VERY capable of understanding and can absolutely benefit from a consistent schedule.

My name is Kourtney McGowan and I have been a certified doula since 2018 but have assisted in births since 2004! I am originally from California and have worked in Orange county, LA county, Bay Area and Texas! I have also taken midwifery courses and have some experience in educating clients and doulas from a more clinical background which has helped my clients and colleagues understand where they stand when it comes to lab results and post partum depression.
I am now mentoring and educating other doulas virtually about Black Maternal Health and plan to continue raising awareness anyway that I can. My passion is educating my community and assisting mothers at the most vulnerable time-child birth! I to am I mother and know how important it is to create a great start for a growing family…

There are times where I do get busy or I am called for a birth and that is why I have my partner Tia, whom I’ve known for over 20 years as a colleague. We started our journey together at Bight Horizons Family Solutions LLC and have done nanny shares and post partum care for clients over the years! Clients have raved about Tia, she has great energy and is a phenomenal cook!
Virtual Advice throughout Your Parenting Journey
Children grow and change so much! Sometimes you have to get to know your child all over again depending on their stage of development! That’s where I (Kourtney) can help… I have a background in Child development, early childhood education (teaching and former director of multiple school), and parenting my own teenager singlehandedly which makes me an expert- Just kidding! This makes me a partner; an empathetic companion to you as you go through life’s challenges as a parent. I can help with developI no age appropriate routines, potty training techniques and tricks and parental hacks to get your children to WANT to listen. These virtual
sessions are an hour long and we meet as often as you need…
